"Join Our Mission: Create No-Sew Fleece Blankets for Survivors"
As I continue on this journey with Sparrows of Hope, my heart is always thinking of new ways to bring hope and healing to survivors of trauma. One of the most comforting things we offer through Sparrows of Hope is a blanket—simple, soft, but filled with love. Each blanket serves as a tangible reminder to survivors that they are not alone, that they are seen, and that they are loved.
In the spirit of community and healing, I want to invite schools, colleges, prison ministries, and any other groups or individuals who feel called to join me in this mission. Together, we can create no-sew fleece blankets—an easy and meaningful way to provide warmth and care to survivors.
What Are No-Sew Fleece Blankets?
No-sew fleece blankets are exactly what they sound like—blankets that don’t require any sewing skills! They are made by tying strips of fabric together, creating a beautiful and sturdy blanket. These blankets are not just practical; they are filled with intention and care, and each one will become a symbol of hope for a survivor.
Here’s how you can make a no-sew fleece blanket:
Materials:
Two pieces of fleece fabric (1.5–2 yards each, depending on how big you want the blanket to be)
Scissors
Ruler or measuring tape
Instructions:
1. Lay out the fabric: Lay both pieces of fleece on top of each other, with the printed (or softer) sides facing out. Make sure the edges are aligned.
2. Cut the edges: Trim the edges of the fabric to make them even. Then, cut a 4-inch square out of each corner of the fabric.
3. Cut fringe strips: Along all four edges, cut 4-inch long strips that are about 1–2 inches wide. You’ll be cutting through both layers of fabric at the same time.
4. Tie the knots: Take each pair of strips (one from the top layer, one from the bottom) and tie them together in a double knot. Continue this process all the way around the blanket.
5. Final touches: Once all the strips are tied, your blanket is complete! It should be soft, cozy, and ready to offer warmth to someone in need.

By making these blankets, you are offering something much more than fabric and fleece—you are offering hope, comfort, and a reminder to survivors that they are not forgotten. You are showing them that people, even from miles away, care deeply about their healing journey.
Why I’m Calling on You to Join the Mission
As a survivor myself, I know how powerful it is to receive something that was made with love and intention. When I started Sparrows of Hope, my dream was to ensure that no one would feel the way I once did—afraid, alone, and without comfort. Each blanket we give serves as a symbol of hope, wrapped with care, to help survivors feel supported on their journey.
I believe that healing happens not only through our own efforts but also through the love and compassion of others. That’s why I’m reaching out to you. Whether you’re part of a school, a college group, or a prison ministry, or if you’re an individual who simply wants to help, I invite you to be a part of this mission.
Together, we can create a network of hope—a community that reaches out to survivors with care, compassion, and tangible reminders of love. These blankets will serve as a bridge between those who make them and those who receive them, bringing warmth and hope to all involved.

From the Founder:
I am beyond grateful for everyone who feels called to join me in this mission. The work we do at Sparrows of Hope is so much bigger than me—it’s about all of us coming together to offer hope to those who need it most. Making these blankets is just one way we can show survivors that they are seen and valued. I can’t wait to see the community we build as we work side by side to spread love and healing, one blanket at a time.
With gratitude and love,
Kathe'rine
