"Reflecting on June: Understanding Our Boundaries and Embracing Celebration in July"
As we move out of June and step into July, let’s take a moment to reflect on the work we’ve done around physical boundaries and timing. Over the last month, we’ve discussed how crucial it is to recognize when and how to set boundaries in relationships. We compared them to the rhythm of the day—morning, afternoon, and evening—each phase reflecting a different stage of comfort and progression.
I hope this reflection helped you feel more empowered in your relationships, and gave you a clearer sense of your pace, your timing, and how to communicate what’s right for you.
Now, It’s Time to Celebrate!
As we move into July, with the 4th of July right around the corner, it feels like the perfect time to celebrate the progress we’ve made—and more importantly, to celebrate ourselves. The 4th of July is a symbol of freedom, but it’s also a time for us to reflect on our own independence.
What does independence look like for you right now? Perhaps it’s the independence that comes with setting boundaries and respecting them. Maybe it’s about celebrating your journey toward better self-care. As you celebrate this 4th of July, I encourage you to take a moment to think about what freedom and independence truly mean for you this year.
Celebrating with Self-Care and Safety
While the 4th of July is often filled with fireworks, barbecues, and gatherings, let’s remember that our celebrations can (and should) include self-care. Taking care of you is the ultimate form of independence. Here are a few ways to stay mindful during your celebrations:
Honor Your Emotional and Physical Space: If you’re attending events or spending time with others, listen to your own needs. If you need a break, step away and take time for yourself. Setting boundaries on holidays is just as important as any other day.
Stay Safe While Celebrating: Independence doesn’t mean going it alone—it means taking charge of your choices. If you’re going out, make sure you have a plan. Stay mindful of your environment, the people you’re with, and trust your instincts. Safety in celebration is key.
Celebrate Your Progress: You’ve done so much work over the past month. Take a moment to reflect on that! Even small steps forward deserve to be acknowledged. Think of this holiday as a chance to celebrate your journey—whatever stage you’re at.

This July, let’s celebrate not only the country’s independence, but our personal independence as well. Let’s honor our progress, our boundaries, and our self-care. We’ve worked hard this past month, and now it’s time to celebrate in a way that feels right for us—safely, mindfully, and with pride in how far we’ve come.
Wishing you a joyful and safe 4th of July,
