New PostSong Reflection: “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten
Song Reflection: “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten
"This is my fight song,
Take back my life song,
Prove I'm alright song..."
There are moments when we feel unheard, when our experiences aren’t believed, or when we face the world alone, and it can feel like a fight we don’t want to keep fighting. But just like the lyrics in Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song”, every survivor has their own fight song—a reason to stand tall and push forward, even when no one else believes in your journey.
> “I don't really care if nobody else believes,
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me.”
These words are a powerful reminder that you are still here, and that alone is proof of your strength. The fact that you are breathing, that you’ve made it through each hard day, shows that you have resilience within you, even when the world can feel heavy and your path uncertain.
Survivors, your life is worth fighting for, whether others see it or not. Sometimes we hope that others will fight for us, but the reality is that we must also learn to fight for ourselves. The strength you need is already inside you—it’s your power, it’s your fight, and no one can take that away.
Reflection Prompts:
When you hear the lyrics “I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me,” what does that stir in you?
How can you remind yourself that the strength to keep going is still within you, even on tough days?
Is there a moment in your journey where you had to fight for yourself when no one else would?
How did you find the courage to keep going, and what did that teach you about your own strength?
How can you reclaim your power today?
What is something small you can do to take back control of your life, even in a small way?
Surviving and Thriving:
Surviving trauma is a long and difficult road, but remember: it’s okay to take your time. You are worthy of fighting for, and even if others don’t understand or believe, you can trust that your fight is important. Your survival matters, and you can choose to thrive—not just for others, but for yourself.
Every day you continue is another day you’ve proven that you’re still standing, and that’s worth celebrating. Keep fighting for your healing, because the strength you need is already in you.
