A Prayer for Survivors of Sexual Assault

A Prayer for Survivors of Sexual Assault

Heavenly Father,

We come to You with heavy hearts for those who have endured the trauma of sexual assault, whether it happened recently or years ago. We ask that You surround them with Your presence and pour out Your love in a way that brings deep comfort to their souls. Lord, You see their pain, their brokenness, and their fear. You know the weight they carry, the shame they feel, and the isolation they’ve experienced. We ask that You bring healing—emotionally, physically, and spiritually—to each and every survivor.

Father, we ask that You raise up supportive people and communities around them who will listen without judgment, who will love them with grace, and who will walk with them through the darkest valleys. For those who feel alone, we pray that You bring groups or individuals into their lives who understand and offer safety and encouragement. Help them find the resources they need, whether it’s professional help, support groups, or simply friends who care.

We know, God, that You are a God of justice. We ask for Your justice to be done in the lives of survivors, that those who have hurt them would be held accountable, and that no survivor would feel pressured to forgive before they have fully healed. Help the church and Christian communities to understand that healing is a journey, and that Your grace allows space for survivors to process their trauma without guilt or shame. Teach us all to be better listeners, more compassionate friends, and true reflections of Your love.

For the survivors who feel ashamed, disheartened, or abandoned, we ask for Your peace to fill them. Remind them that they are not failures. They are loved by You, and their worth is not diminished by what they’ve endured. Lord, remind them that they are not defined by their trauma but by Your grace, mercy, and love.

We pray for hope, for healing, and for justice. We ask that You strengthen every survivor with courage and endurance as they walk this road. And we pray that Your light would shine brightly in their lives, showing them that there is a future filled with healing, purpose, and peace.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
