You have to take care of yourself, give yourself time to rest and recharge. You can’t keep driving without filling your tank.Healing is no different. It takes energy, effort, and self-compassion to keep going. But sometimes, we forget that we need to pause and refuel—whether it’s through self-care, rest, or seeking support. Don’t be afraid to pull over and take a break when you need it. You can’t drive far without the energy to do so.Brakes: Slowing Down When NeededSometimes, we’re afraid to slow down because we feel like we should always be moving forward. But, just like a car, sometimes the brakes are there for a reason. Slowing down gives you the chance to check in with yourself, to assess where you’re going, and make sure you’re still on track. It’s not about stopping completely, but rather about being intentional with your pace.In healing, this might look like taking a moment to breathe, reflect, and ask yourself how you’re really feeling. It’s okay to slow down and honor your emotions. You don’t need to rush through the process. There are bumps, turns, and unexpected detours along the way. We wonder, “What if I go too fast and get hurt?” But in order to reach your destination, you need to trust your instincts and know that you are in control. You have the power to decide when to accelerate, when to slow down, and when to take a detour.Trust that you can handle what comes your way, and don’t be afraid to pick up the speed when you’re ready. Life may be a journey full of challenges, but you are stronger than you think. It’s not always easy or quick, and the process requires care, patience, and some hard work. But what happens after we plant those seeds? Beautiful things begin to grow. In life, we often look at a flower, like a rose or a daffodil, and we admire its beauty. But have you ever thought about all the work it took to create that flower? Flowers don’t just magically appear—they’re planted, nurtured, and tended to carefully. It’s the same with healing. We have to plant new things in our hearts and minds if we want to see growth, but the work it takes to get there matters too. --- Healing Like Planting a Seed When we plant something—whether it’s a seed or a new idea or belief in our heart—it doesn’t happen instantly. There’s effort, attention, and time involved. A seed needs to be planted in good soil. It needs water. It needs sunlight. But just like you can’t rush a flower to bloom, you can’t rush your healing process. It takes time and care. You may not see the growth right away. Some days it might feel like nothing’s happening, but behind the scenes, change is taking place. It’s like when a seed is planted underground, and for a while, we can’t see it growing. But trust me, it’s growing. You know, the butterfly goes through several painful stages before it becomes the beautiful, free creature we all admire. It doesn’t start out as a butterfly—it starts as a small caterpillar, eating leaves and living a simple life. Over time, it enters a cocoon, and it’s there that it has to go through some of the toughest, most painful moments of transformation. But eventually, it breaks free, its wings unfold, and it’s free to soar, to be itself, to fly. ---The Butterfly: A Reminder of Your Own GrowthI want to remind you today that your mistakes, your pain, your difficult moments—they can all lead to wisdom, just like the butterfly’s painful transformation leads to its freedom. Mistakes are not something that should define you—they’re part of the journey, just like the cocoon is part of the butterfly’s journey.I get it: sometimes, the weight of our mistakes can feel too heavy. And I truly believe that taking the time to create new happy moments is not only good for your heart but it’s vital for your mental health too.If you didn’t grow up with the experiences or happy moments you wish you had, or if the past year has been tough, now is the perfect time to start. You can create moments that will become part of your legacy—moments that remind you you’re worthy of joy, no matter what you’ve been through. ---Start by Creating Happy Moments for the FutureOne thing I love to do is take pictures, whether it’s something beautiful I see outside or just a simple moment of joy I experience during my day. These pictures can be a great way to capture happiness in the now and create something lasting for the future. You don’t need a special occasion or big event to take a picture—sometimes the smallest moments carry the biggest joy.Here are some ideas to help you start:Take photos of everyday moments that make you smile. Reflecting on Your Legacy: How I Set Intentions for the Year Ahead Hey friends, As I celebrate my birthday this month, I’ve been reflecting on something I truly love doing—taking the time to think about the legacy statement I want to live out and the vision I want to have for the year ahead. Life can be so busy and full of noise, and sometimes we get caught up in the demands and pressures of everything around us. But I’ve learned that taking a break to think about what’s truly important is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves. So this month, I want to share with you something I’ve been practicing: setting a vision statement for the year, and focusing on one thing at a time. It’s easy to think about all the things we want to achieve and create a huge list of goals. But sometimes, life feels like a juggling act, and that can be overwhelming—especially if you’ve been through difficult seasons. That’s why, for me, the one thing I focus on is not about achieving it all at once but about making progress one step at a time. So if last year felt overwhelming, I go back to the basics: What’s the one thing I can focus on right now? What’s the one thing I can build on? Let’s take a look at how you can apply this idea to your own life. I hope it gives you a little peace of mind as you think about the year ahead! --- What’s Your Legacy? A legacy statement is something that reflects the essence of who you are, what you value, and what you want to leave behind. It’s not a goal—it’s a bigger vision of how you want to impact the world and how you want to feel as you move through life. Here are a few prompts to help you start thinking about your own legacy statement: What do you want to be remembered for? How do you want to show up for others? What values are important to you? What change do you want to see in your life or in the world? For example, a legacy statement could sound like: “I want to be remembered as someone who showed others compassion and kindness, even in difficult times.” “I aim to inspire others to live their truth, free from judgment and fear.” “I will create spaces where people feel heard and safe, especially survivors of trauma.” These are just ideas, but they can help you reflect on the impact you want to make. You don’t have to have it all figured out yet—just taking the time to think about it is a powerful first step. --- Creating Your Vision Statement for the Year Alongside your legacy, it’s important to think about the vision you have for yourself in the coming year. A vision statement is more of a practical guide to how you want to feel and grow in the immediate future. It’s something that aligns with your values and gives you direction. It can be as simple as thinking about one area of your life you want to nurture or improve. Some ideas to start with: What’s one thing you’d like to focus on this year?This could be personal growth, health, relationships, or learning a new skill. What’s one habit you want to build or break?Maybe it’s practicing gratitude daily, setting boundaries with others, or learning how to forgive yourself.
